A Baby Update - Week 8

I realized I never shared last Saturday's 8 week photo with you!

Around 6 weeks I was having such awful morning sickness that I was in the bathroom at least twice a day, and was completely nauseous for the rest of it. I was having a hard time functioning and could barely stand without being dizzy. I looked like an elderly lady walking around hunched over all day long. With a toddler in the house and a husband, this just wasn't cutting it. The doctor's office prescribed me Phenergan, which makes you T-I-R-E-D. I couldn't function on that either, I was always napping.

At my 8 week appointment last week I told my nurse practitioner all of my symptoms and described how disabling it all was, especially trying to work. She gave me Zofran this time, which is non-drowsy, thank goodness! It has taken a few days but I am doing much better. I am still nauseous a lot, and at night after work I am pretty much useless, but I'm trying to plug along!

We got to hear the baby's heartbeat and it was a whopping 164 beats per minute! Everything looks healthy and right on schedule. Our due date is officially November 2nd!

Love & Joy,

Guest Post by Get Busy Living!

Hello lovely readers! I want to introduce my friend to you.
Her name is Elizabeth and she just started a new blog called "Get Busy Living"! I have known her for about 5 years and I am excited to help her meet all of you wonderful people and to grow her blog!

Love & Joy,

First of all, I wanted to thank Leanne for letting me guest post on her blog. I am fairly new to the blogging community. A few years ago I started blogging for my own use. Then I got busy with everyday life and the blog was put on the backburner for over a year. I'm sure most of you can relate.  Now I am ready to get my creative side back and start connecting with others in the blogging world.

I am 27 years old, married for 5 years, and have a spunky two year old son. Last year I taught kindergarten and decided to become a stay-at-home mom. So here I am... ready for the new challenges and to soak up all that life has to offer. I wanted to share an excerpt from my blog that I think many of us can relate to:

Have you ever had moments in your life when something keeps nudging at you?  Well, I had a few of those moments a couple weeks ago, and feel like sharing it with all of you.  It was around the time of my 27th birthday and my husband and friends kept asking me "what do you want for your birthday?"  Honestly folks, there's a lot of things that I want, but there's really nothing that I need. So with that in mind, I kept brushing them off. Later in the week at my MOMS group we got on the topic of how difficult it is to be a mom and to take time out for ourselves. Then, I came home to find that my favorite cookie lady posted a picture on Facebook related to "filling up your jar"... Ding, Ding, Ding!!!  Apparently, I needed this to be a topic of discussion because it somehow grabbed my attention three times that week.

Not only do I need to take the time to rejuvenate and fill up my jar, but I know it benefits everyone around.  Can you imagine doing everything for everybody else and never taking the time to relax or do anything special for yourself?  Maybe some of you know exactly what I'm talking about because that describes you to a "T". A lot of moms and people in general can relate because it seems like we are a home maker, a nurse, a teacher, a wife, a chauffeur, a coach, a circus ring leader.... all rolled into one person. At the end of the day, we have nothing to show for ourselves. We have a lot to show for what we did for everybody else, but nothing to show that we took time to ourselves. Don't get me wrong, family is important and being there for everyone else is important, but not to the extent of forgetting about yourself in the mix of things. If you're constantly filling up other people's jars you will have nothing left to contribute in the end.

So with that said, take time to do something nice for yourself. Even if it's just going to get a pedicure or allowing your husband to draw a bubble bath for you. You deserve it. I think I will splurge by getting myself a cookie....

Love, Elizabeth

March Cara Box Reveal!

This month I did Wifessionals Cara Box exchange again! The theme was "My Name Is..." which meant that each person had to make a box for her match containing things that begin with the first letter of her name! I sent my box to Kelly at Sweet Tea and Lemonade, and Nicole at Adventures of a Semper Fi Family sent to me.

**Also, if you could pray for Nicole and her family I would appreciate it. I know she would too. They got some startling medical news about her husband and I know first hand what it is like to deal with it, from my own father's situation when I was young. You can read about it on her blog.**

Let me just tell you that buying for Kelly was HARD. I'm a little embarrassed at what I stooped to a couple of times (changing a C to a K on packaging), but you gotta do what you gotta do! I even threw in some things that didn't have to do with her name just because they fit her personality so well. You can check her reveal out later this week!

Nicole was awesome. She sent me such a fun box that was extremely thoughtful. Not to mention the fact that she lives in the same city that I am from, and we have frequented the same church.

She sent me:

-Lindor chocolates (because I'm "sweet)

-Lemon drops (to help with my morning sickness)

-Leopard print nail polish strips!

-Lavender socks (for my daughter)

-Lotion (which smells amazing!)

-Laundry Clips (they are adorable and glittery!)

-Letter (to mail to a friend) which is cute and Springy!
THANK YOU NICOLE! It was very fun and my daughter loved having something to get out of the box.

Trendy Little Link-up!

Today I am linking up with Chelsea at Sunny with a Chance of Sprinkles for the first Trendy Little link-up! The idea is to link-up posts of your trendy, or just plain adorable, youngin!

Here is Emma Jane, my sweet toddler, wearing a TOTAL girl outfit. We went to Dunkin Donuts for her first time last month in this. Classy, eh? And of course she demolished her white onesie with a Strawberry Sprinkle Valentine's donut. But it was worth it... for me anyways. Let's just say this little girl is not a fan of donuts, or anything particularly sweet. I can't complain, because that will save me loads of money in doctor and dentist bills!

I hope you are having a great week and make sure to browse around the other cute Trendy Little posts on Chelsea's page!

Honest Friday Link-Up!

Hello and WELCOME to the first "Honest Friday" link-up!

I came up with this idea when this first question popped in my head one morning.

- Follow your host
Top This by Leanne

- Follow your co-host(s)
Frugal Foodie Mama
Quest for a Husband

- Put the link-up button in your Honest Friday post (you can answer the weekly question within a post you already have planned, just be sure to include the button!)

- Visit other blogs that linked up and be nice enough to follow them however you would like!

This week's question is: What is the longest amount of time you have gone without shaving your legs?

Have fun answering and reading other's answers! No reply is too embarrassing ;)

(Next week's question is: Is your car's trunk the picture of perfection or a catch-all for everything under the sun?)

While I was showering this morning I realized I hadn't shaved my legs recently and I couldn't remember when I last had. Welcome to my life as a mom of a toddler with another one on the way! Showers are quick and to the point, and unless I am wearing shorts or a dress I don't think of shaving. Even though I live in Arizona it has only recently become warm enough for me to think about wearing anything but yoga pants or jeans! In my embarrassing moment today I thought about other ladies and wondered how long any others have gone. That is where the idea for this link-up came from because I thought it would be fun to have to answer an honestly embarrassing or difficult/silly question each week! I hope this was fun for you, and I look forward to reading all of the fun answers that come with this weekly link-up!

Blogger's Guilt

I feel guilty for not blogging because I'm so sick. Then I remember, in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter. Does it?

If I don't blog or tweet the world will still spin. Hopefully I won't lose my wonderful group of readers, but if I do... I'll start again, right?

I always say that I'll be honest and transparent with all of you. And if I'm being "real" I have to admit, I'm down. I'm trying to be positive but I don't do well not functioning normally.

I feel guilty. Guilty about dishes, and laundry, and bathroom counters, and playing with my daughter, and staying up to watch shows with my husband, and being behind on orders..

I'm trying to give it to God but I feel helpless and useless right now.

Sorry for the downer post. I'm just being honest :)

Things Never Go As Planned..

Today I had every intention of writing an awesome blog post about some crafts I did over the weekend. I haven't given you guys a true post in about a week and for that I'm sorry.

Wearing the many hats that I do, wife, mother, nanny, homemaker, and of course being myself, I find that life gets in the way of my plans a lot.

Today I would normally be at work with my daughter and the little one I nanny. In about an hour and a half they would both be sleeping and I could sit down with my laptop and write a fun-filled post for your eyes to read.

But alas, today did not go as planned! My daughter woke up with a fever of 102, and my boss told me to stay home. The Bean and I have watched three Tinkerbell movies so far and it is only 11am. As we speak I am watching the end of the third while she sleeps on me in our rocking chair.

I wouldn't give up these moments for a blog post about my crafting ventures. Even though I hate it when she is sick, I do love the snuggles.

Tonight my husband is taking over while I go see two friends in the musical "South Pacific". I haven't gone to a show in years, and I am looking forward to it more than you know! Please pray for my Bean. It would be much appreciated!

Love & Joy,

I Haven't Gone Anywhere!

I can't remember the last time I went this long without blogging! I have some posts in the works but can't seem to find the time to sit down and write. My morning sickness and exhaustion is forcing me to nap as much as possible and to go to bed early each night. I'm hoping this passes soon!

I hope you all are doing well and I will get back to my normal routine as soon as I can! I am also behind on orders for my shop and that's stressing me out to no end.

Happy Monday!

So What Wednesday!

Today I am linking up with "Life After I Dew" for So What Wednesday!

So what if I.....

• don't want to work late tomorrow and am hoping I have a reason to say I can't. I'm tired.

• got Dutch Bros coffee two mornings in a row.

• have started thinking of what I could buy for our new home now that we got our tax return.

• forgot to bring lunch to work today.

• let Emma watch TV this morning because I'm nauseous.

• haven't done my makeup all week.

• the laundry is folded in piles but not put away.

• the dishes are two days old.

• have no bras that fit.

• only want to watch Downton Abbey everyday but I'm dreading finding out who is leaving. I've heard it's traumatic.

• want to start buying baby clothes but won't until I know what I'm having, which is 9 weeks away.

Love & Joy,

And So It Begins...

Morning sickness has officially kicked in. Or should I say "middle-of-the-night-and-all-day-the-next-day" sickness. I woke up at 1AM knowing that I was going to be sick. This feeling continued until 6AM with me sleeping off and on until 7AM.

Daniel, my husband, injured his shoulder at work last night so poor Emmabean (as we call her) was so bored! We tried to entertain her this morning, me from the couch, and Daniel with one good arm.

My sister saved the day and came to get Emma and took her to church with her so that I could rest! What a savior!

I'll see if I can get my giveaway posted by tomorrow morning but if this continues as it is I might have to delay it.

Prayers for my tummy and for the hubby would be appreciated!

Pardon the awful photo placement as I am using my blogging app to write since my laptop is across the house.

Love & Joy,

What I Did This Week

This week has felt LONG. The Hubby's hours at work have been low so he picked up as many shifts as he could, was working on the pools he cleans, and had a bunch of things to take care of. We had a night off together last night for the first time all week! It was lovely. He made dinner (vegan spaghetti with "meat" sauce) and we all sat at the dinner table like a real family. ;)

To recap  my week I had to go through my iPhone photos to remember what I did. Yes, it's been that hectic.

I was getting Emma out of the car the other day and knelt on the passenger seat. When I did I heard a crack and realized that under the sweater I was sitting on was my laptop. I didn't think much of it, because laptops are pretty durable, right? Until later that evening when I opened it to start catching up on my blog reading.. I saw this:

Needless to say I was so sad because I just bought this in August with my birthday cash and was so happy to call it my own.

Emma and I went to the zoo after work one afternoon because our pass is about to expire, and all she wanted to do was sit on the kids bench and swing her legs. Works for me.

**Photos of my girls have been removed to protect their digital footprint**

I worked on some orders for a local photographer. She ordered a couple themed hats for a newborn shoot this month. Aren't they cute?? They are available in my Etsy Shop as well!

I also took an adventurous dive when I decided to finally make the first thing I pinned on Pinterest. These strawberries are supposed to turn out like gummy candy after baking. The only thing I didn't realize was that it takes THREE HOURS to dry them to perfection. I can't really say how they turned out because I got impatient after two and ate them all.

After last nights yummy dinner was devoured I realized all of my "large enough" tupperware was being used elsewhere. So I had a wonderful idea! Why not use the mason jars I have sitting in my pantry! I'm realizing now I could probably find a thousand Pinterest tutorials on what to do with them as well. Maybe I have a crafting weekend in my future.

I hope you all had a wonderful week! Isn't my new blog design beautiful? Thank you to Melissa at The Life of a Not So Ordinary Wife!

Love & Joy,
