Today I'm linking up with The Pleated Poppy for "What I Wore Wednesday"!

I honestly can't remember where the shirt is from, the tag is missing!

Belt: Target

Jeans: Mossimo (Target)

Flats: American Eagle (Payless)

Necklace: Origami Owl

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

CaraBox Reveal!

Hey all! I signed up for the CaraBox Exchange this month for the first time! Kaitlyn at Wifessionals puts this together and she does a phenomenal job! If you want to sign up for March, head over now!

This month's theme was ClubSexy, in honor of Valentine's Day. The idea was to create a box for your lady that is an ideal date night for her and her hubby, or for herself if she is single!

Lex over at Senior Year Blog had me this month. We were matched up by state this time but unfortunately she, and Alli (who I sent to) live in Tucson which is a whole two hours from me, so we couldn't meet up. Two hours is a long drive when you have a toddler!

Lex really paid attention to my interests and preferences on my blog. She put a lot of thought into each thing and it was fun to see what she came up with!

My favorite color is turquoise, which she implemented really well in almost all of the things in my box! Including turquoise tape labeling every item!

These cookies were amazing and I already finished the box. It isn't often you find vegan cookies that are AMAZING. Oddly enough my husband works at Trader Joe's and I hadn't tried these! I'm hooked!

These cookies I have yet to open because I was busy polishing off the Snickerdoodles, but I have had the Speculoos Cookie Butter that TJ's sells so I KNOW these will be amazing.

Lex sent this HUGE pouch of cocoa powder to make chocolate cupcakes (completely vegan). I can't wait!

She took the time to find a vegan recipe for me! Those are hit and miss and I can't wait to bake this one.

Cute parchment baking cups for MASSIVE cupcakes. My hubby will love these.

A Starbucks card, which I already used on my way to an early doctor appointment the other day. ;)

The yummiest granola bar! My 15-month-old couldn't get enough of it! I'd say she ate more than me.

I adore Audrey Hepburn, and she made these cute cupcake decorations. Aren't they sweet?

She made me a trivia game based on quotes from Audrey Hepburn movies! Such a great idea.

And a sweet note encouraging me in my blogging and business efforts. So great!

Also, a hair treatment to make my locks shiny and movie star quality!

Needless to say she put a ton of effort in! I had fun going through the box. Thanks Lex!

I sent to Alli at Allena Mistral. She had to go pick up her box at USPS so soon it'll be on her blog! Check her shop out, it's got some beautiful pieces!

Sunday Social!

Good Sunday morning everyone! We are eating breakfast and will soon be off to try a new church! I'm excited, nervous, and praying it will be "the one".

I'm linking up with Ashley and Neely today for Sunday Social! Enjoy!

1. Biggest Middle school fashion mistake:
Carpenter jeans and barrel bangs.

(Me in Wizard of Oz)

(At the beach with a friend)

2. Who were your best friends in high school?
Becca, Chelsea, and Brittany.

3. What was a typical weekend like for you in high school?
Performing whichever musical our group was doing at the time, Denny's and Island's late night dinner trips, movies with friends, the mall.. typical teenager stuff ;)

4. Did you have any boyfriends/girlfriends?
Tell us about that. I had a LOT of crushes. Only 3 boyfriends in high school though.

5. Did you have any secret codes with your friends? Spill your secrets!
We had some secret words or phrases that usually had to do with a boy or someone we didn't like. (We weren't mean, lol).. And Becca and I had journals we would write in and trade back and forth.

6. If you could relive one day/moment/experience from middle school or high school, what would it be?
Any of the nights out doing mindless nonsense and making memories.

Our New Home.

Many of you asked to see photos of my new home, and I apologize for the delay. We have been there for a week today! I took the photos with my iPhone so forgive me for any poor quality. Also PLEASE ignore any clutter you see, we are still organizing! Enjoy!

These are our entryway photos: Emma Jane at three, six, and nine months.

This is our kitchen which is HUGE compared to our last one! I have cupboards I don't know what to do with! (Notice how I sneakily edited out the sink full of dishes? I'm a mom, you know...)

Our dining room theme is "Friends". Here is one small wall:

Here is the view looking in from the living area:

Our other dining room wall (notice Monica's french photo there?):

And our last picture on the dividing wall:

The living room!

Our fireplace (we haven't had one in years!) and family photo collage.. Ugh, now I see the top two are off center!

I am very proud of this hutch/shelf. I snagged it for next to nothing on CL as one of the first pieces in my shabby chic collection. (See our favorite show up there?)

Our entertainment center (I refurbished from black and added new knobs!)

Our hallway (we didn't have a hallway in our sardine can):

The entrance to Emmabean's room:

The rest of her room:
(She isn't spoiled, I swear.. well, spoiled sweet.. but almost all of her toys were gifted to her, so not our fault!)... (oh, and also, she sleeps with us right now so this is essentially a playroom).

Her reading corner. She likes to rearrange the animals daily. Soon I'd like to get a cheap crib mattress and make a smushy corner with lots of pillows!

Emma's bathroom:

The shower curtain isn't crooked.. the photo is ;)

And a little snapshot of our family photo this last Thanksgiving.

Sorry, no photos of our room and bathroom yet! That area became our "catch-all" for things we haven't placed yet, so it ain't pretty! I'll give you a special peek at it when it's ready.

Thank you so much for taking a tour of my new home! If you have ANY decorating suggestions, PLEASE say so. I'm in the process of redecorating right now so it's a little sparse on the "pretty".

This week we are on the final stretch of weaning our 15 month old daughter from breastfeeding. All we have left are two night feedings. It isn't easy. The type of parenting we do makes this week a bit harder.

We are an attachment parenting family. We co-sleep, bed-share, babywear, exclusively breastfeed, and don't cry-it-out. We made the choice to implement these practices because of instinct, not because of wanting to go against the grain, or to be a hippie, or because we wanted to follow a "style" of parenting.

We chose to co-sleep and bed-share because initially my daughter had tummy troubles due to sensitivity to food allergens so she nursed and cried frequently at night. Because of this I got MUCH more sleep having her next to me and nursing her "in sleep mode" than if I was getting up every time she woke. We also preferred her being close, and looking forward we've decided we want to do this with all of our children.

**Photos of my girls have been removed to protect their digital footprint**

We babywear because our daughter liked to be close. It was easier for me to plop her in the sling and go hang laundry or vacuum than to try to balance her on my hip and lose an arm ;) Babywearing also is awesome because the snuggles are endless. There's nothing like your little one falling asleep against you as you mosey about the house or grocery store.

**Photos of my girls have been removed to protect their digital footprint**

We exclusively breastfeed because I have her with me 24/7, as she goes to work with me, and it was never necessary in the past to use one frequently. My husband gave her a bottle once, I did once, and a babysitter twice. She never liked them, never liked pacifiers either, so it just became something we did. I think it benefited me because my milk supply definitely never had a chance to dry up! Ha.

We chose not to let Emma cry-it-out because it just didn't feel good to us. I realize for some parents this works, but for us it didn't. We didn't like letting her scream in her bed because she really needed help falling asleep, especially with her tummy problems. She would turn purple, gag, and choke so we knew it wasn't for her. Now, we have a very special bond and a wonderful bedtime/nap routine that consists of rocking, walking, and singing until she is limp. I know that must sound laborious but they are truly only little once, and I know in a few years she won't want so many mommy snuggles, and right now I get to hold her close and sing sweet words to her as she sleeps on my shoulder.

Because of these practices, weaning is hard. Having Emma close to me at night, all night, makes her frustrated when she knows the possibility of nursing is there, but I won't let her have it. Not letting her CIO is something that makes weaning hard because we won't let her just fend for herself and "deal with it". Instead we hold her, love on her with snuggles and kisses, reassure her with words, and hum soft songs.

So far we are only nursing at 12am and 3:30am. Last night was a hard one because she did nurse at both times, but I tried to cut the second one short, which made her mad. After that she wouldn't calm down enough to sleep soundly and kept wailing. I knew she had been fed, but not long enough to make her fall fully back asleep, and she knew it too. My husband stepped in after about an hour of patting, singing, and bouncing, and walked around the room with her. He was lucky enough to have her fall asleep on him and they slept like that sitting up on the bed until 9am this morning. Looks like we are in for a treat this week! Pray for us :)

We moved!

After 3 days of moving, surprise help, and my mom spontaneously driving out, we are all moved in to our new place! I am so in love with it.

It's "just" an apartment, but it's got a great layout, Pretty angled walls, and SO much more room than our 1 bedroom sardine can.

I promise pictures WILL come. Now that I've decorated I just need to put the small things away. Then I'll show off, I promise! As for now I just wanted to let you all know that I'm alive over here. Exhausted, thankful, and alive.

He's Practically a Stranger! (and marriage link-up!)

I am so excited to tell you the story of my husband and I. It's unique, that is for sure! I'm also linking up with "The Life of a Not So Ordinary Wife" with a "How Well Does Your Spouse Know You?". Read on for the fun to begin!

The story of how my husband and I met always has people wide-eyed with their mouth hanging open. It still tickles me to tell new friends about it because their reactions are priceless. Since you are my "new" friends, I figure you deserve to hear the story too! And since it is Valentine's Day, what a better time to tell it!

I was a new server training at Applebees when I met Daniel. He had been working there for 2 months at the time and helped train me a bit. Despite this, we had never struck up a true conversation. While standing around by the server's station one Thursday afternoon, I heard Daniel mention something about living in San Diego. Me, being from SoCal also, jumped right in and started asking questions about his upbringing. I found out we had both attended the same churches out there, both been homeschooled, and had similar friends!

Some time later while filling sugar caddies in our side-by-side sections he asked me if I wanted to come over to his apartment that night and watch a movie with his roommate and his roommate’s girlfriend. I said "Sure", as casually as possible, all while trying to figure out if he was "into me" or just being friendly.

After work I drove with him to his apartment, and the minute he opened the door I looked around, and, observing the spotless living room said, "What can I touch?” (I had been unaware of his Marine Corp background, hence the immaculate quarters). Daniel then gave me a tour and I was amazed by the number of black and white photos of old movie stars that he had. (He had the same taste as me!) I then took to perusing his massive collection of movies and saw that he owned "RENT", which I politely begged to watch because it is my favorite, and he obliged. When the "La Vie Boheme" scene came on he pulled me to my feet and started swing dancing with me in his living room. I didn't have the heart to ruin such a cute moment, but the man was distracting me from my favorite scene! Don't worry, I forgave him. Needless to say, the minute we settled down on his couch it was as if fate pushed us together. Daniel put his arm around me, and I leaned in. In Daniel's words, "It just was right."

The next day (Friday) at work I wasn't sure how serious Daniel took the fate-filled evening before. For all I knew I was just 'some girl'. So I tried to be casual during the shift, not coming across too forward or too aloof. That didn't last long and curiosity got the best of me. I approached Daniel on his way back to the kitchen and said, "So, about last night... was that just a... thing? Cause I don't want it to be a thing... I mean *insert rapid mindless jabber here*.....” Then Daniel got a stern look on his face and said "come here", leading me to the walk-in freezer in the back. And there he kissed me. I guess that was my answer!

That night I got cut from the floor early. I had been home only a few hours when I got a text from Daniel that said that his roommate had just been arrested while on-the-clock at the restaurant. Daniel was in a state of confusion and bewilderment. He had trusted him, been lied to, and left without a rent payment. For a few days I thought long and hard about what I could do for his situation. I was living on my sister's pull-out couch and that was enough to push me forward and I had just enough money in my account for the other half of Daniel's rent. On Sunday I coerced Daniel into letting me move in, you know, because he needed a paying roommate and I needed a room. And that Monday I did.

The day after I moved in, a Tuesday, we were sitting on the couch talking about dreams, futures, and goals. The conversation took a turn to where we were going in life, our relationship, and what we wanted out of it. Before I knew it 2 hours had passed and we had talked ourselves into marriage and kids. Daniel said, "Did we just get engaged?" and, in complete disbelief, I said, "I think we did!"

The next week I was kept out all day long by my friend Kara. We got our nails done, went to lunch, and did some light dress shopping. Towards the end of the day I was very tired and antsy. I wanted to go home! But Kara talked me into going to dinner with some of her friends. The entire time we were there I was texting Daniel telling him how annoyed I was and how badly I wanted to come home. FINALLY, Kara said it was time to go.

When we pulled up Kara asked if she could come in and use my bathroom. We walked up and I opened the door. I didn't get much further. Daniel was on one knee in the living area with a ring-box in his hand. Friends and family were gathered around the living room, all staring at me, not making a sound. He asked me to marry him, the proper way, and of course... I said yes.

We were married six months later in San Diego at Mission Bay. We had both always wanted a beach wedding in our hometown. It was a beautiful day, and we have been happily married for five years this year.

And now for our questions. We were asked to separately fill out the answers to the questions below, to see how well Daniel knows me. It was fun! Now, he's not "wrong" on any of them, but some were just difference of opinion ;)

How long have you been married?
L: 4 years, 5 months
D: 4 years, 5 months roughly

Where was your first date?
L: On his couch watching RENT
D: My apartment. Bayside Apartments in Gilbert, AZ

Where was your first kiss?
L: On his couch watching Accepted, LOL (same night)
D: Ditto previous answer

Who first said, "I love you"?
L: Technically him, but I coerced him ;)
D: Technically me, but only in response to "It's just so hard not to say it!" by a then 19-yr-old Leanne.

What were your wedding colors?
L: Turquoise and cream
D: White and turquoise. Very pretty.

What is her most commonly used phrase?
L: "I know, right?"
D: Hm.. Do "ah ah ahh" or "Emma, use your words" count? Lol. Her and I say "Miss you!" and "Love you" waaay too much. One month we texted each other over 5,000 times.

Who is her celebrity crush?
L: Darren Criss
D: I don't think blog posts are supposed to be that long.. Blaine from "Glee" is the tops right now. We both mutually crush on Ryan Reynolds and Ryan Gosling. Lol.

If she was ordering drinks for both of you what would you each get?
L: Appletini for me, strawberry daiquiri for him
D: Some version of peach tea for herself and a Dr. Pepper for me. We don't really drink that much. But she does like a sweet wine from time to time.

What is the best meal she has ever cooked you?
L: Sausage bean soup!
D: We've discovered a lot of meals in our shift to veganism. My favorite would have to be black bean manwiches on whole wheat buns. Yum!

What is the worst meal she has ever cooked you?
L: Anything the first two months
D: Haha, maybe the tacos that gave me food poisoning in Year 1, lol!

What is the most-played song on her iPod?
L: "It's Not Unusual" - Blaine from Glee
D: Hmm.. Does "anything from Glee" count? That "We Are Young" song? Something from Les Mis perhaps.

What would she say is your most annoying habit?
L: Picking at his nails while we watch TV!
D: Normal guy stuff like belching, flatulence, swearing. Stressing and worrying too much. Drinking too much Diet Dr Pepper. Being too critical of myself. One of the above.

What is the last thing she does before she goes to bed?
L: Check my Facebook!
D: Her routine on her iPhone. And we always say "I love you".

If you could throw out one item of her clothing what would it be?
L: My pajama pants from my teen years
D: I'm working on her robe. I wanna get her a new one. It's in the giveaway pile currently.

What would you say is your favorite thing about her?
L: My kind nature
D: Her unbelievably sweet and caring soul, combined with her joyful and loving spirit.

What's her go-to drink at Starbucks?
L: Raspberry mocha made with coconut milk.
D: Um. Something with vanilla and decaf coffee and coconut milk, I think.

What's her blog's name?!
L: Top This by Leanne. And don't you forget it!
D: Top This! by Leanne

That was fun!
